David Sandor is a visual artist, graduated from the National University of Arts in Bucharest in 2002. Since then, he has been working as Art Director in advertising and design and has created a web based creative collective project called Fresh Drawings.
During the residency at the Institute, he will be working on a drawing and animation project called LOOP. The project draws its inspiration from Lucien Freud's famous thought: "Everything is a portrait". David aims to create both sketches and moving images of various subjects - people, animals, plants and landscapes - that will explore their psychology in continuous transformation.
The project includes a series of short reel animations. The technique used is classic animation, filmed frame by frame. The first stage of the project will be drawing in mixed technique (coal, marker, indian ink, pastels) and photographing the work during its process. The second stage consists in animating the work on the computer. The installation project will subsequently be part of the Institute's visual art agenda in London.
