Romanian authors at the Jerusalem International Book Fair. 20-25.02.2011

In 2011, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv is participating with its own book stand at the Jerusalem International Book Fair, apart from the national stand, organized under the auspices of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Patrimony. Our stand will be presenting around 100 titles from the RCI Publishing House and the National Book Centre.
The writers invited by the Romanian Cultural Institute are Filip Florian ("A Dark Chapter – An Enlightened Literature", literary café on February 22) and Andrei Oişteanu ("The Imaginary Jew", literary café on February 23).

The Romanian Cultural Institute Publishing House issues reference works in the fields of literature, art, and science, as well as literary works, alone or in partnership with specialized institutions in Romania or abroad. Among the titles the RCI Publishing House brings to this year's edition of the Jerusalem Book Fair are some of its most successful books and art albums, such as: Narcis Dorin Ion - Residences and Families of the Nobility in Romania, Tudor Banuş - Parc(o)urs, Erwin Kessler (editor) - The Self-punishing One. Ştefan Bertalan, Florin Mitroi, Ion Grigorescu. Arts and Romania during the 1980s and 1990s.
The National Book Centre (CENNAC) operates since 2007 as part of the Romanian Cultural Institute. It supports the translation and promotion of Romanian literature abroad, through its programmes: TPS (Translation and Publication Support Programme), 20 authors, Publishing Romania and the scholarship programme for new and professional translators of Romanian literature. The National Book Centre coordinates the participation in international book fairs, organizes meetings with publishers from various linguistic areas, meetings with authors and translators and ensures the presence of the Romanian writers at international cultural events. Among the titles CENNAC brings to this year edition of the Jerusalem Book Fair are: Filip Florian, Little fingers (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, USA), Norman Manea, Les clowns. The Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Patrimony, which for the last 30 years has been organizing the national stand at the Jerusalem book fair, will therein exhibit books from various Romanian publishing houses, with more than 300 titles. More information available at: www.cultura.ro/ In the last years, Romania has been participating to major International Book Fairs all over the world, presenting important works and leading Romanian authors.
Romanian guests invited by the Ministry of Culture are: Solomon Marcus ("Does Today Literature Have Enough Imagination? ", literary café on February 21) and Ioan Groşan (public reading on February 23), both from Romania, and two Romanian-Israeli writers (Riri Sylvia Manor, Madeleine Davidsohn).
