We are delighted to announce that seven Romanian designers will be participating at the London Design Festival taking place between 12-20 September. Romania’s first collaboration with the festival is presented under the title ‘Time for Change’, in a partnership with Romanian Design Week focusing on contemporary art inspired by traditional practices. The collection will be presented online via Adorno London Virtual Design Destination platform (adorno.design) in the format of 3D images. Visitors will also be able to access short films, interviews and articles about the artists and their work.
The designers, Radu Abraham, Agnes Lukacs, co/rizom, Dare to Rug, Ștefan Păvăluță, Stardust Architects, UAU Ceramics were selected by Jimmy MacDonald, the founder of London Design Fair and director of Adorno, together with Romanian curator Maria Neneciu (RDW). Their creations maintain traditional Romanian craftsmanship practices through weaving, pottery, sculpture, product design and architecture.
London Design Festival launched in 2003 with the scope of bringing together designers from across the globe and celebrating the capital’s position as a powerhouse for the creative industries. As we adjust to the term and conditions of the ‘new normal’, this year’s festival, in contrast to previous editions, introduces greater online activity and ways of exploring new platforms for presenting design and discussion. The 18th edition of LDF presents its first collaboration with Romanian designers, through a partnership with Romanian Design Week (Bucharest, 11-20 September), an interdisciplinary festival promoting design through cultural, social and economic practices.
This event is made possible with the support of London Design Festival, Adorno, Romanian Design Week and Romanian Cultural Institute London. Click here to read the full press release.
