Dan Perjovschi about his first encounter with Szilard Miklos: "Many years ago I found myself in Cluj on the occasion of a debate related to art education. I visited the exhibition of graduate students and in my opinion it was one of the most depressive exhibitions I ever saw. Romanian art education was and is conservative. But this one was really way way too conservative. Young people are taught to do and think a form of art who does not exist in real life. They do not address real life at all. The works were grey and my mood was grey too. Lucky me I bumped into a diploma exam with a very wired performance. Somebody was dressed with a very strange and peculiar electronic suit connected with a backback (source of energy) and was doing strange movements. Every move created a sound who was modulated by a computer. It was sound work. The teachers in the room were puzzled. All their knowledge of oil painting, still life and standard compositions were useless. They had no tools to judge or comprehend what was happening in front of their eyes. It was a different world. I know now the sound artist was Miklos Szilard."
