European Day of Languages in Tokyo: Traditions, Culture, and Romanian Language Lessons in the Hiroo District

Romania will be represented at the celebration of the European Day of Languages and Translators’ Day in Tokyo through a project dedicated to promoting its national heritage. The street event will take place in the pedestrian area of Hiroo Shopping Street on Sunday, September 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering the Japanese public and foreign tourists a direct glimpse into Romanian culture. At the booth set up with the support of the EU Delegation, visitors will be able to discover a selection of documentary materials, art albums, tourist brochures, and traditional items. These will highlight the natural and historical beauty of iconic regions such as Sibiu, Brașov, the Danube Delta, and the Transfăgărășan, alongside monographs on Romanian artists and presentations of traditional costumes and folk dances. The linguistic aspect will be supported by an exhibition of Romanian language textbooks translated into English and Japanese, as well as interactive mini-lessons for those eager to learn their first words in our language. In addition, the public will be able to participate in a street stamp rally and themed quizzes, with the chance to win prizes and souvenirs offered by Romania.
