An event that combines Romanian music and traditional Japanese musical instruments - taiko drums - will take place in Shizuoka, Japan, on August 16, with the support of the ICR Tokyo. The event "Music Resounds Between Romania and Shizuoka", at Vangi Museo - The Sculpture Garden Museum, is organized by the Shizuoka-Romania Cultural Exchange Association in Japan, with the involvement of Prof. Yusuke Sumi, director of the Japanese Cultural Center of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.
Performers: Constantin Stavlat, Oana Andreea Severin, Antonia-Maria Bîrlă, the Ryuin-daiko Traditional Japanese Drum Club and the Japanese Classical Music Club of Shizuoka University.
Partners: George Enescu University of Music in Iași, the Japanese Cultural Center of Babeș-Bolyai University, the City Hall of Iași, under the aegis of the Romanian Embassy in Japan and the Romanian Cultural Institute Tokyo.
The event will begin with the Romanian anthem performed by Ms. Ato KAWARA, member of the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca.
Subsequently, the repertoire will consist mainly of melodies inspired by the traditional Romanian melodic line:

The Japanese ensembles Ryuin-daiko and Kuno-daiko will give a demonstration of traditional drums. There will also be a mini-lesson in Romanian and a presentation of Romania, given by the director of CCJ-UBB Cluj, Prof. Yusuke Sumi.
