The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) and „Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca are organizing the Romanian language proficiency certification exam (ALTE) for foreign nationals, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This exam, which is usually held at the university’s campus in Romania, will be organized for the first time in Japan in 2026 by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo and Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, in the presence of examiner Professor Yusuke Sumi, director of the Japanese Cultural Center at „Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca.
The certificate (issued in two languages: English and Romanian) is valid indefinitely and is internationally recognized; it is required for foreigners who wish to study or work in Romania.
