Romanian Language and Culture Celebrated at „EU Languages Day” in Tokyo

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy in Japan, is ensuring Romania’s participation in the fourth edition of EU Languages Day. This cultural diplomacy event will take place on 27 September 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the bustling pedestrian area of Hiroo Shopping Street in Tokyo.

The event is organized by the EU Delegation to Japan, the EUNIC Tokyo Cluster and the embassies of member states. The project is carried out in close collaboration with the authorities of Minato City and tourism organizations in Tokyo. The central objective is to build a bridge between civilizations, directly resonating with the themes of multiculturalism and international coexistence.

At the logistics booth provided by the EU Delegation, RCI Tokyo will offer the Japanese public and tourists a fascinating glimpse into Romanian identity.Visitors will be able to browse through art albums, monographs, tourist brochures and language textbooks translated into English and Japanese, designed to showcase the richness of traditions and folk costumes, as well as the diversity of natural landscapes and the beauty of Romanian towns and villages. Those interested will also be able to take part in a demonstration lesson in Romanian, specially designed to facilitate direct linguistic interaction. The atmosphere will be enhanced by the elegance of handmade creations featuring traditional motifs by the artist Cornelia Kasahara, and the luckiest participants will have the chance to win, in a special raffle, one of the 15 „Discover Romania” promotional packages.
