"Somewhere in Palilula", the cinematographic debut of the famous Romanian theater director Silviu Purcărete, will be broadcasted online, for the first time in Israel, with the support of Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) in Tel Aviv, on the occasion of the Francophone Film Festival, which takes place between March 1st-7th, 2021 on the online platforms of the Jerusalem and Holon Cinematheques.
The festival is part of a series of events designed to celebrate Francophonie Day, in which Romania traditionally participates. Films from Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Switzerland, France, Greece, Ireland, Vietnam and Romania will be screened during the Festival. „Undeva la Palilula” (2012, regia: Silviu Purcărete).

Synopsis: The film's protagonist is Seraphim, a recent graduate of Medicine School, who receives a short-term assignment at the hospital in Palilula, a ghost town, lost in the middle of the Wallachian plain. A sanatorium-hospital, unlikely hospital, gynecological clinic in a place where no children are born. Palilula is a place where derision coexists with charming things, and the population of the city is isolated for eternity in drunkenness, parties and orgies. The film follows the journey of Dr. Seraphim through Palilula, over several years and seasons.
The film represents the cinematic debut of the renowned theater director, Silviu Purcărete, awarded the prize for best debut at SEE FEST-South East European Film Festival in Los Angeles, as well as numerous awards at the 2013 edition of the Gopo Awards in the Best Sets (feature film), Best Picture (feature film), Best Editing (feature film), Best Original Music (Feature Film), Best Costumes (Feature Film), Best Makeup and Best hairstyle (feature film fiction).
