„Since Giorgio Strehler’s production, this is one of the finest and perfectly composed views on this drama. The plastic beauty of “The Tempest” makes us detach from the reality and feel the genuine theatre. The designer Dragos Buhagiar’s idea to use 18th century costumes was an excellent one. Although the props and set are modest, we have been greatly impressed.” ( Marcin Miętus, Balkanistyka.org)

„The director interpreter, Silviu Purcarete, started building the mise-en-scène from Trinculo’s line: ”the folly of this island!”. This description permits many things and anything within the frame of the Shakespearean work whose significance flexibility allows an ingeniously approached and worthily staged performance to be conceived. The protagonist is an old Prospero whose age-relating slowing energy is also transferred to the slow dynamics of the performance, while his perception of the world conveys a predominantly gloomy atmosphere. The magician is characterized by the not so beautiful features of the last stage of the human life. We feel that everything is only the result of his imagination, and that we are watching an illusion.” (Oltița Cântec, SpectActor, nr. 2/2012)

The Shakespeare International Theatre Festival is organized for the first time by the Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv. The festival will host performances from: Georgia, China, Lithuania, Romania, Great Britain, Slovenia and Israel.
