”Metronom”, directed by Alexandru Belc, shown for the 1st time in Israel at the Jerusalem International Film Festival

The Jerusalem International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious events of its kind to take place in Israel, is being held between July 21-31st, 2022, at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and other locations in Jerusalem. Following the success of the Romanian movies during the previous editions of the Festival, the organizers have included, in this year's edition, the Romanian movie ”Metronom”, directed by Alexandru Belc who won the Directing Prize within the Un Certain Regard competition of the Cannes International Film Festival.

The movie, shown for the first time in Israel with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, will have 3 screenings during the Festival, at the Jerusalem Cinematheque and Lev Smadar Cinema.

Synopsis: Romania, autumn 1972. Ana, a 17-year-old teenager, finds out that her boyfriend will flee the country for good in a few days. The two lovers decide to spend their last days together.

The Jerusalem International Film Festival celebrates its 39th edition this year, at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. During its 10 days tenure, an average of 150-200 films are projected in the following sections: Panorama (international productions), Documentary Films, The Jewish Experience (dealing with issues related to Jewish identity or the history of the Jews), The Spirit of Freedom (films concerned with the concept of freedom and human rights), Drama Television, New Directors and Israeli Film (premiers of Israeli productions). Among the guests of the Festival, over the years, were Warren Beaty, Marcello Mastroiani, Robert de Niro, Roberto Benigni, Jane Fonda, Michael Haneke, Claude Lelouch, Lucian Pintilie and Roman Polanski.
