TLVFest, International LGBT Film Festival, hosted by the Tel Aviv Cinematheque and LGBT Center between the 11th and the 18th of June 2011, will gather 50 feature films and 53 short films, as well as 9 special sessions of short films, from 22 countries. Romania will be present in the Festival for the first time with the feature film "Love Sick", directed by Tudor Giurgiu. The screening of the film is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
"Love Sick" is a film about an unconventional love triangle. Alex is a young girl who leaves home for the first time to the big city of Bucharest to attend university. She befriends Kiki and the two develop a relationship. But Kiki has a secret – a forbidden relationship with her unstable brother, Sandu.
Tudor Giurgiu is an appreciated film director and producer. He graduated from the Theatre and Film Academy in Bucharest, Romania. In 2002 Giurgiu founded Transylvania International Film Festival, the first international event of its kind in Romania. He was president of the festival until 2005 as is currently honorary president. As a film producer it's worth mentioning that Tudor Giurgiu was the Romanian producer of the Israeli film "The Human Resources Manager, directed by Eran Riklis.
"Love Sick" (Romania, 2006, 86 min.) will be screened at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque (2 Shprinzak St.) and has English and Hebrew subtitles.
