“Encounters: Bucharest - Yaffo / Bucharest - Haifa” is the title of the photography exhibition, signed by the Israeli artist Ruth Oren, that will be hosted at the Galeria 15 Design – Hanul cu Tei in Bucharest, between September, 27th – October, 10th, 2014.
The exhibition is comprised of photographs taken by Ruth Oren in Bucharest, Yafo and Haifa during several years. Emerging from visual analogies, the themes of the works are different urban images, through which the artist tries to create a unified space for her spiritual identity, which defined by two coordinates: the Romanian one and the Israeli.
The exhibition represents a continuation of the project with the same title organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv in 2012.
Ruth Oren, born in Romania in 1949, immigrated to Israel in 1961. She holds a Bachelor degree in History of the Theater and Hebrew Literature & Grammar and Masters degree in Media and Journalism from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She received her Phd in Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Haifa, with a thesis about "Themes and aspects of Landscape Photography in Israel 1945-1963". Ruth Oren is known for her academic activity, spanning from photography to visual communication, and is currently a lecturer at the University of Haifa and at the Academic College Wizo Haifa,
The Opening of the exhibition will take place on September 27th, at 18:00, at the "Galeria 15 Design – Hanul cu Tei", the gallery of the Design Department of the Visual Artists’ Union in Romania.
The artist will meet with the public during the exhibition period on Tuesday, September 30th, at 18:00.
The exhibition is organized with the support of The Embassy of Israel in Romania, The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, the Visual Artists’ Union in Romania, the University of Haifa and the TAROM Company.
