Between March 21st and April 14th, 2013, the Tel Aviv Artists’ House will present the contemporary art exhibition „Like Animals”, showing recent paintings and sculptures by four Israeli artists: Edwin Salomon (born in România), Bosem Harel, Farid Abu Shakra and Assi Meshullam. The works are gathered around a unitary concept, as the artists make use mainly of the zoomorphic imagery in order to visually explore various stereotypes related to the Animalia.
The catalogue of the exhibition, containing an introductory text by prof. Haim Maor, mentions a wide range of literary compositions, films and oral expressions that have been used by the artists as sources of inspiration.
Edwin Salomon was born at Ocna Mureş in 1935. He studied at the „Ion Andreescu” Fine Arts Institute in Cluj, between 1951 and 1957. After he emigrated to Israel in 1961, he exhibited in prestigious locations, like The Pușkin Museum (Moscow), Grand Palais (Paris) or The Vasarely Museum (Budapest).
