The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv announces the screening of the animated documentary Crulic – The Path to Beyond, director: Anca Damian (Romania-Poland, 2011), at the fourth edition of the annual Israeli animation competition MaraToon, on December 15th, 2012, at 9 p.m., at the Holon Cinemateque.

Crulic – The Path to Beyond depicts the real story of Claudiu Crulic, a Romanian citizen arrested in Poland for a supposed robbery, encarcerated despite the subsequent evidence that showed that, at the time the robbery was commited, he was no longer in the capital of Poland, and abandoned by every one till his death occurred as a result of him going on hunger strike.(source: www.cinemagia.ro)The actor Vlad Ivanov is the voice of Crulic.

Anca Damian graduated The "I.L. Caragiale" National University of Performing Arts and Cinematography and holds a Ph.D in Arts,Cinema and Media. In 2008 she directed the fiction feature "Crossing dates", selected by numerous international film festivals. She also worked as a director of photography for the feature films "Forgotten by God" (1991) and "The way of dogs" (1992) and for a series of awards-winning short films and documentaries.
MaraToon, the annnual animated film competition, this year in its fourth edition, is organised and hosted by the Holon Cinemateque between December 5 and 9, 2012. In the MaraToon competition, that lasts five days, the participants (professional animators and students) are encouraged to create animated short films, between 30 seconds and 1 minute, according to specific parameters that are announced in the first day of the competition. The films that have been selected by a jury of professionals, will receive the awards during the closing ceremony, that will take place on December 15th, 2012.
