Between September 30 and October 8, 2012, will take place The 18th International Cartoon Exhibition – Haifa 2012, the only event of its kind in Israel. The festival is exhibiting cartoons from all over the world, under the title “Social Justice and Protest”. The cartoons have been selected after a contest, organized in the summer of 2012.
The First Prize at the free category was awarded to the Romanian cartoonist Gheorghe Licurici. The Prize Award Ceremony will take place on October 8, 2012, at 18:00, at Haifa Auditorium, in the presence of the Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav.
Gheorghe Licurici is a member of the Federation of Cartoonists Organizations (FECO). He is publishing constantly in various magazines and newspapers in Romania; he participated in more than 200 cartoon exhibitions and received numerous awards, such as: Aksehir - Turkey [1995], Omiya - Japan [1996], Davenport - USA [1998], Tolentino - Italy [2003], Porto - Portugal [2006], Alanya - Turkey [2007], Gallarte - Italy [2007], Istanbul - Turkey [2008], Bursa - Turkey [2008], Baku - Azerbaijan [2009]; Barakaldo - Spain [2009]; Berlin - Germany [2010]; Daejon - South Korea [2010].
The exhibition is open daily to the public at the Haifa Auditorium (142 Hanassi Blvd.), between 10.30 – 22.30 hrs.
