Andrei Dosa at the Shaar International Poetry Festival,  22-24112018, Jaffa Theatre

 The 2018 edition of “Sha’ar” International Poetry Festival will take place between 22-24.11.2018 at cultural locations in Jaffa. This year’s edition will focus on the theme of “Identity” and will include in its program both Israeli and international poets.

As part of the international program of the festival, Romania will be represented by Andrei Dósa, whose participation at the festival is made possible with the support of RCI Tel Aviv and as part of a EUNIC Israel initiative. Together with the Romanian poet, there will participate numerous other international poets, such as Zeno Bianu and Laure Cambau (France), Natasha Sardzoska (Republic of Macedonia), Gabo Lanczkor (Hungary), Matilde Campilho (Portugal), Marilena Renda (Italy), Giedrė Kazlauskaitė (Lithuania), Mathura (Estonia) and Eric Sarner (France - Algeria).

Among the events at which Andrei Dósa will participate there will be:

Thursday, November 22, at 19:00, Jaffa Theater (Mifratz Shlomo St. no. 10, Old City of Jaffa): Global Mosaic – a poetry reading in different languages, accompanied by music. Poets of the festival and guest poets from abroad reading in different languages: Hebrew, Romanian, Arabic, French, Hungarian, Estonian, Italian and more.
The heart of this reading aloud is listening to the sounds of the language with no translation. Accompanying this event with wind instruments is musician Arik Livnat.

Identity, Essence and the Perception of Self in a Virtual Age
Who are we online, on creation and deletion of identities. The event is hosted by Michal Svironi and will include an electronical poetry performance by the singer Tzlil Danin.
Participants: Agi Mishol, Adi Keissar, Ren Shapira, Noa Shakargy, Eric Sarner (France) and Andrei Dósa (Romania).

Saturday, November 24, at 16:30, Jaffa Theater (Mifratz Shlomo St. no. 10, Old City of Jaffa): Someone to Study With - School and Identity.Poetry within the borders of the educational establishment – on teachers, friends, school fences and teachers’ rooms. Participating: Yudith Shahar, Giora Fisher, Andrei Dósa (Romania), Laure Cambau (French pianist).

Andrei Dósa (1985) was born in Braşov, Romania. He published four collections of poems: Cînd va veni ceea ce este desăvîrşit (When completeness Comes, 2011); American Experience(2013); Nada (2015) and Adevăratul băiat de aur (The real golden boy, 2017). Recently he published his first novel, Ierbar, at the publishing house Polirom. Currently he is an editor of the literary magazine “Poesis International”. He also works as translator of Hungarian literature into Romanian, mostly translating contemporary poets, including György Petri, István Kemény, and Szilárd Borbély, but also novels by Dezső Kosztolányi and Magda Szabó.

Sha’ar International Poetry Festival is an interdisciplinary poetry festival, that hosts established Israeli and guest poets, as well as young promising poets and artists. Besides poetry readings a panel discussion and meetings with editors of poetry journals, the festival presents collaborations of poetry with other artistic fields: music, dance, video art, visual arts and theatre. Sha’ar publications include the Poems and Poets festival book as well as a separate English edition. Sha’ar also focuses on new poetry in Israel and on interdisciplinary art. It promotes work created especially for the festival through dialogue between art and poetry and - along with well-known writers from Israel and the whole world - it introduces the audience to new artists and poets.
