As the world prepares to observe the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we join in the commemoration of the tragedy of the Shoah by honoring the extraordinary humanitarian work done in Romania for more than a century by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). The tremendous, life-saving efforts of this indefatigable organization will be remembered through an exhibition prepared by the Center for the Study of the History of Jews in Romania and a panel discussion featuring JDC’s Vice-President Jane G. Weitzman, historian Adrian Cioflâncă, and journalist Teodora Drăgoi.
The evening will be opened with the world premiere of documentary ”Sărmașu '44”, produced by Romanian broadcaster TVR.
The event will take place at RCINY on February 6, 2020 (7 PM). The exhibition will be open through March 6, 2020.
