Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague in cooperation with the Embassy of Romania in the Slovak Republic organize an extraordinary panpipe and keyboard recital on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, in a common effort to maintain the Romanian identity in the Slovak cultural environment as well as help the local Romanian community to stay united and spiritually strong.
The event, which is already traditional in the eyes of our local audience, will feature panpipe artist Andreea Chira and pianist Ruben Doran. The program of the concert consists of valuable Romanian music pieces that have an impact, and will be played in a highly artistic manner. The evening will end with a diplomatic reception organized by the Embassy of Romania in the Slovak Republic, attended both by well-known figures from Bratislava and by members of the diaspora.
Andreea Chira was raised in a family with a long musical tradition. At the age of 12 she started to study panpipe at the „Dinu Lipatti"Music Highschool, with professor Cornel Pană. Later, she participated in concerts worldwide, such as: South Korea, Portugal, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Italy, Turkey and Austria. In 2011, she moved to Austria where she continued her studies at the University of Vienna, Musicology Section. Afterwards, she performed at concerts in Louxemburg, Romania and Austria. In 2012, the panpipe artist recorded her first album in cooperation with the composer Roland Baumgartner.
Ruben Doran started to study the piano when he was 5, with professor Ion Florea. He was a backup conductor of the Baptist Church in Oravița, working with maestro Sava Crănicean as the conductor of the choir „Aurora" in Oravița, but also as a tenor, a trumpet player and a pianist. Since 2010, he has continued his piano studies in Vienna, at Prayner Konservatorium with Stefan Zikoudis. In 2015, he started to cooperate with artist Andreea Chira forming a duo that penetrated the cultural market through events organized by the „Mihai Eminescu" Cultural Association in Vienna.
