A graduate of the University of Fine Arts in Cluj in 2001 and the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in 2006, Peter Szabo is interested in the social and economic value of art. He investigates processes of art production, presentation and reception within institutional, market and state requirements. His most profound concerns take shape as platforms and spaces for mediation, discussion and debate on the tension between art practice and institutional norms.
As artist-in-residence at the Romanian Cultural Institute London, Peter Szabo will work on a project called What I Mostly Hate About Art. The project aims to open channels of communication between various practitioners within the independent art network, and encourage sharing of working methods and experiences.
Personal exhibitions: What I Mostly Hate About Art / Part One, Studio Gallery, Budapest (2007); Comparative, Bercsenyi Gallery, Budapest (2002); BFA exhibition, Protokoll Gallery, Cluj (2001).
