The Finissage of the last exhibition from the series “The Spirit of Săpânța” will take place on Saturday, the 1st of June 2013, at 11:30 hrs., at „The Edge” Gallery in Nahariya. The exhibition comprises a series of artworks produced under the title “The Spirit of Săpânța” – a Romanian - Israeli traditional and contemporary art project, initiated by prof. Haim Maor in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
The exhibition has ben itinerated in Israel at Nahariya (May 4 – June 1, 2013), at Omer (Omer City Gallery, March 17 – April 24, 2013) and at Kibbutz Be’eri (February 16 – March 10, 2013).
The project “The Spirit of Săpânța” aims to reveal some common features between the Israeli contemporary art and the Romanian traditional art. The artworks (paintings, drawings, documentary photos, video recordings) were made in August – September 2012 in Săpânța by the Israeli artists Haim Maor and Nora Stanciu and the Romanian tradtional artist Dumitru Pop Tincu, follower of Stan Pătraş, the founder of ”The Merry Cemetery” of Săpânța. For one month, the three artists worked together, making artworks that appeal to memory, commemoration, art and folklore. The works were presented in an exhibition organized at Lina Gallery - Bistrița Synagogue - The Society of Concerts Bistrița, with the support of the Israeli Embassy in Romania, Bistrița Municipal Cultural Center, The Jewish Community of Bistriţa-Năsăud and Bistriţa City Hall.
