On December 15, 2015, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague organized a concert of carols and traditional songs, performed by the children from the folklore group "Mlădiţe ilfovene" in Clinceni, Romania. The event took place on the open stage set in Staroměstské náměstí - Staré Město, 110 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic (the square situated in front of the Astronomical Clock, one of Prague's symbols). The Christmas holidays have made, in this context, a unique opportunity to gain image benefits, as the concert was a part of the most complex and large series of holiday events in the Czech Republic attracting an impressive audience.
The young artists, aged between 6 and 16, promoted our authentic traditional values through the traditional folklore songs from various ethnographic areas. Under the coordination of the folklore singers Grigore Gherman and Mărioara Man Gheorghe, they recreated the enchanting Romanian winter atmosphere.
The programme consisted of some well known carols: Am plecat să colindăm, Pe podele de nuiele, Dechide uşa, creştine, Sus, la poarta raiului, Velerim şi veler Doamne, După dealul cel mai mare etc. and also an artistic demonstration of traditional winter dances and rites, such as Jocul caprei, Semănatul, Urătura.
