Anca Benera in Someone Else's House

Someone Else's House is a domestic intervention curated by Patricia Chi and featuring Romanian artist Anca Benera for the first time in London. Established and emerging artists have been invited to reflect on all the idiosyncrasies of a private Edwardian residence in Notting Hill to create a fresh and experimental range of video, photography, sculpture, and installation not to be seen elsewhere.

This unique show of site-specific art captures the mixture of curiosity, freedom, and a touch of nostalgia felt when visiting a house that is not quite a home.

Someone Else's House includes new work by Anca Benera, Mat Collishaw, Dan Graham, Lucy Gunning, John Hilliard, Viveka Marksjo & Shaun Elstob, Mike Ricketts, Kanako Sasaki, Akiko & Masako Takada.

Born 1977 in Constanta, Romania, Anca Benera gained her BA in Fine Art at the Bucharest National University of Art (2001). Recent exhibitions include: Fuori Uso - Altered States, Pescara, Budapest and Bucharest (2007), Betonsalon, MuseumsQuartier, Vienna, Platforma, Cooper Gallery, Dundee, Scotland, Fluidic project-NewYorkRioTokyo, Projektraum E4, Berlin (2006). Benera is currently based in Bucharest.

Anca Benera's participation in the Someone Else's House project is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute.
