Traditional costume parade on the occasion of the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse

On 24th June, The Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, in cooperation with the Embassy of Romania in the Czech Republic and the Association of Romanians in the Czech Republic organize a traditional costume parade, with the occasion of the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse. Hence, between 16:30-18:30, representatives from the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, from the Embassy of Romania and also from the Romanians community will offer to the Czech and international audience, from the most popular area in Prague, the opportunity of an incursion in the Romanian heritage, which, after more than 2000 years old remained untouched in its essential aspects.  The Romanian traditional clothing encapsulates millenary customs and beliefs. The technique of adorning this traditional blouse was handed down from mother to daughter, a fact that preserved the tradition and taste from one generation to another. The patterns are stylized, geometrical or inspired from nature.

We will have traditional blouses from different parts of Romania such as Muntenia, Moldavia, Dobrogea and Banat. Our initiative aims at preserving and promoting Romanian traditions during modern times and familiarizing young audiences with the Romanian traditional values, history and culture and some of the hidden beauties of this country.

The parade route is accessible to everyone who wants to join us after the beginning time:

16:30 starting the parade in front of the Embassy of Romania (Nerudova 5);

17:15-17:30 - Staromestske Namesti;

18:00 - Narodni Divaldo market;

18:20-18:30 - Ujezd.
