The Day of Romanian Language is celebrated at the Barevna Devitka Festival in Prague

The Embassy of Romania in the Czech Republic and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, in partnership with the Ploieşti City Hall, by Ploieşti City "I.L. Caragiale" House of Culture, together with the "Cherish the moment" Foundation, organize the program "At home, to Romanians" during the 12th edition of the "Barevna Devitka" Multicultural Festival. The event will take place on Saturday, August 27th, 2016, between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., in the Podvini Park, Prague.

There will be traditional Romanian dances, presented by the members of the "Prahova" Folk Ensemble of the Ploieşti City "I.L. Caragiale" House of Culture, coordinated by choreographer Gheorghe Grama. The traditional dance workshops - which involve the audience - take place between 2 p.m and 2:30 p.m.. Starting from 4:25 p.m., there will be a Romanian traditional dances presentation on the stage of the festival, accompanied by the voice of the extraordinary singer Ion Creţeanu.

The traditional Romanian singer Ion Creţeanu, who received the title of Human Treasure, will join the program "At home, to Romanians" between 5:05 p.m. and 5:35 p.m., when he will offer a recital dedicated to the  Day of Romanian Language, that is celebrated on August 31st, every year.

Also, during the whole festival day, the icon painter Elena Adriana Popa will coordinate the icon painting on glass workshops , helping the visitors of the Romanian stand to discover this traditional art.

At the same time, Valter Paraschivescu, artist who is specialized in painting on wooden spoons, will guide those interested in creating their own Romanian souvenirs.

The "Barevna Devitka" Multicultural Festival is an interesting presentation of the variety of international cultures and ethnic minorities living in the Czech Republic. The festival, Colourful Nine in translation, is organized by the Prague 9 City Hall in partnership with the embassies, cultural institutes and associations representing the communities in the Czech Republic. It facilitates the intercultural dialogue and helps the audience discover other countries and traditions.

Romania will also be represented at the festival by the stand organized by the Association of Romanians in the Czech Republic, where the visitors will be able to taste traditional products and Romanian wines.
