Taking the title from an emblematic song of the 1980s in Romania, Constantinescu presents a showcase of oil paintings, drawings and tracing overlays made from 2009 to 2011, when the artist has returned to these mediums after more than a decade working as an established filmmaker and director. He approaches the act of painting as self-reflexive practice and platform for discovering identity within a contentious political environment.
An Infinite Blue is accompanied by the film Troleibuzul 92, 2009, presented at the Venice Biennale's 52nd International Art Exhibition in 2009, and a pop-up book, The Golden Age for Children, 2008, which deconstructs the moving image and casts an impression of the past.

Ştefan Constantinescu (b.1968) is a visual artist and film director living and working in Stockholm and Bucharest. He works with various mediums to include film, artist books and paintings approaching the political through introspection to challenge notions of identity, while working in and with issues of post-communist Romania. Recent work includes the painting series An Infinite Blue, the short film Troleibuzul 92, the pop up book The Golden Age for Children, the film My Beautiful Dacia directed together with Julio Sotto and the film Passagen.
