Night of Churches

On June 10, 2016, between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., will take place the Night of Churches - a successful annual cultural event. This project includes over 1400 churches and cathedrals in the Czech Republic, that will open their doors to the public, offering a complex program of exhibitions and video projections, concerts, religious reading evenings and gastronomy. Unitl 12:00 p.m., various primary schools will organize a series of interactive events for the young ones, in order to present them the Church and religion.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague promotes the program organized by the Orthodox Church in Prague - which participates in the Night of Churches circuit for the third year already - at the St. Arch. Michal Church (Kinského zahrada, Praha 5 - Smíchov). Every year, the program is aimed at informing the public in Prague and at presenting its specific activity: icon painting on glass. This activity has had a great success and became the main attraction of the church in Kinsky park.

The program of the Romanian Language Orthodox Church in Prague is dedicated to an open public of all ages: 

18:00 - 18:15 Welcoming the guests

18:15 - 19:00 Presentation of the techinques for icon painting on glass; presentation of icons (that have a well-established place and role in a church)

19:00 - 19:30 Mass (in Czech and Romanian)

19:30 - 20:00 Meal

20:00 - 20:30 Presentation of the church and of the icons

20:30 - 20:45 Orthodox songs

20:45 - 21:00 Quiet prayer

21:00 - 21:30 Presentation of the church and of the icons

21:30 - 22:00 Quiet prayer

22:00 End of program
