Otilia Sîrbu, a writer and a professor at the Hyperion University in Bucharest, is currently preparing the Prague launch of her latest book, The Man and the Myth in the 21st Century, published this year by Editura Universitară, Bucharest. The event will take place on Thursday, November 26, 2015, starting from 6:30 p.m., at Pivovar Marina, Jankovcova 1059, 170 00 Prague 7. Important members of the Romanian diaspora in the Czech Republic as well as many other people interested in our culture and literature will attend – given the fact that the work will be presented in Romanian.
In her novel, the author defines the status of the 21st Century Man not only from the anthropological perspective, but also from a number of different points of view. Starting with the archetypal models and the ’self’ at the level of consciousness, which make every being in the Universe unique, Otilia Sîrbu builds a puzzle of the identity of Man, identifying all its phases throughout history.
The literary event represents a very good opportunity to stimulate the interest of the local audience in the Romanian literature, to promote a positive image of our country – Otilia Sîrbu being an ambassador of the Romanian culture abroad –, as well as to bring the diaspora members together with a common sense of belonging to one of the fundamental values that define us as nationality: the written culture.
