TUE, March 25, 7:30 pm (through May 11) | The Armory Show & The Romanian Gallery Selected for the second year in a row at the prestigious Armory Show in New York (March 27-30), Plan B Gallery is the first invited producer of the Takeover Gallery project. Through this project, RCINY intends to provide to some of the most prominent galleries in Romania a chance to perform for a month on the visual arts scene of New York City.
Between March 25 and April 30, Plan B presents, in the framework of Takeover Gallery, the exhibition The Doppler Effect, works of Kriszta Szabo and Cristian Rusu at the Romanian Gallery (200 E 38th St, New York, NY 10016). Exhibition opening: Tuesday, March 25, at 7:30 pm.
The same evening, a panel discussion starting at 8 pm with the question 'How to make a gallery visible in New York?' will take place. The panel will include: Mihai Pop (Plan B Gallery, Cluj), David Nolan (David Nolan Gallery, New York), Florence Lynch (Florence Lynch Gallery, New York), Lara Taubman (art critic and curator, New York), Jane Neal (art critic and curator, Oxford), and Mihai Nicodim (Kontainer Gallery, Los Angeles). Visual artists Adrian Ghenie, Serban Savu, and Miklosz Onucsan (all present for the Armory Show 2008) will also take part in the panel discussion.
On Saturday, March 29, at 5 pm, an informal discussion about the contemporary art "school" in Cluj will take place at the Armory Show (Plan B stand).
