On February 19th, 2016, starting from 6 p.m., the Embassy of Romania in the Czech Republic and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague organized an event dedicated to the anniversary of 140 years from the birth of the greatest Romanian sculptor, Constantin Brâncuși, in the premises on Nerudova 5 (Mala Strana, 11800 Prague 1). The introductory speeches by Mr. Bogdan Neagu, Charge d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Romania in the Czech Republic, and by Mr. Ionuţ-Petre Munteanu, Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague, were followed by the screening of the documentary film Brâncuși ( Cornel Mihalache) and by a unique Sand Art show by scenographer Mariana Pachis, projected on a cinema screen. At the end of the evening, a diplomatic reception was held in the salons of the embassy.
This type of artistic event, during which the works of Brancusi came to life under our eyes from sand and magic created by Pachis, was very well received by the audience. After the show, she offered a special moment to those interested, the possibility to pose for a Sand Art portrait, at the same time teaching them how to use this technique - a form of anticipation that develops one's capacity to simultaneously use both hands.
Among the participants to the event we can mention: members of the Embassy of Romania in the Czech Republic, diplomatic corps, strategic and institutional partners of both co-organizers and members of the Romanian community in Prague.
