The Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon 2012

The Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon will be held between 2 and 12 December 2012 in Beirut, Sin El Fil and Zahle. This extensive event is organized by the Romanian Embassy in Lebanon and the Romanian Cultural Institute, with the support of local partners. The events are addressed to the Romanian community in Lebanon as well as to the entire Lebanese public.
The event’s program includes screenings of the latest Romanian movies (Medal of Honor, directed by Peter Călin Netzer, and the latest Romanian short movies such as Between Already and Not Yet by Ioana Mischie and Stremt’89 by Anda Puşcaş and Dragoş Dulea), special activities for children (short presentations about Romania - history, culture, traditions, exhibitions with images of Romania, classic Romanian cartoons, games and contests). Moreover, there will be the inauguration of the Romanian books sections at the Lebanese American University and at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA).

Within the Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon an exhibit called «The Memory of the Walls. The French spirit in Romanian architecture» by Daniel Constantinescu, will be displayed at Institut Français de Zahle starting December 6th.

The Romanian Cultural Days in Lebanon 2012, is the second edition of this cultural project conducted in cooperation with the Romania-Levant Association, the Moldovan-Lebanese Friendship Association, the CLAC Cultural Center and the Municipality of Sin El Fil, and prestigious academic institutions such as the Lebanese American University, the University of St. Joseph, the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Balamand and Collège des Pères Antonins.

In 2012, the Romanian Embassy in Beirut and the Romanian Cultural Institute conducted numerous cultural projects: concerts, Romanian language courses for foreigners, movie screenings and conferences. Also, Romania, through a representative from the Romanian Embassy in Beirut, dr.Dan Stoenescu, delegated by the Romanian Cultural Institute to represent cultural policies, holds the Presidency of EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) in Lebanon for a second consecutive mandate for 2012-2013.
