Considering the success of the "pilot event" called "Mediaș Synagogue - a page of history", which took place on September 27th, 2020, the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) in Tel Aviv intends to launch, on December 17th, 2020, starting with 17:00 hours , a new series of projects dedicated to the synagogues in Romania, as well as to the Jewish cultural and architectural heritage in Romania.
The collaboration between the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, on the one hand, and the Jewish Community Center (JCC), on the other, would facilitate the presentation - via live Zoom conferences, respectively video footage filmed on the spot - several synagogues from Romania and the specific details of the Jewish communities they serve.
The series of projects will start on December 17th, 2020, from 17:00, with an event dedicated to the synagogues in Oradea. The moderators will be Martin Salamon, director of RCI Tel Aviv, together with Robert Schorr, director of the Department of Culture within the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania and JCC Oradea. The event will take place via live streaming on the official Facebook page of RCI Tel Aviv - https://www.facebook.com/icr.telaviv/.
Held in English, the event will include the following guests:
- Felix T. Koppelmann, President of the Jewish Community of Oradea, who will talk about aspects of the Jewish community life in Oradea;
- First Rabbi Shraya Kav who will discuss the preservation of the Jewish religion and its practice in Oradea;
- Cristian Pușcaș, architect, who will present the synagogues of Oradea from an architectural and structural point of view;
- Alexandrina and Florian Chelu who will present an artistic moment to celebrate the last day of Hanukkah.
