The 5th International Early Music Seminar. Special guests: Ensemble Flauto Dolce from Romania. The Israel Conservatory of Music, Tel Aviv. October 9-16, 2014

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv supports the participation of the Ensemble Flauto Dolce at The 5th International Early Music Seminar, taking place between October 9-16, 2014 at The Lin & Ted Arison Israel Conservatory of Music. The International Early Music Seminar, organised annually by “The Lin & Ted Arison Israel Conservatory of Music”, has a varied program which includes concerts, workshops and academic events. Now at its 5th edition, the seminar is one of the most prestigious events of this type in the world, supporting the international trend of recovering and passing on to future generations the heritage of European urban music, also known as “medieval”, “old” or “early” (from the Middle Ages – Renaissance – Baroque period). The teachers are some of the most famous and professional artists in this field, and the admission of the students are made based on rigorous criteria.
This year, the Ensemble Flauto Dolce is the special guest of the seminar. Through their participation, they wish to bring to the attention of the Israeli audience, in an academic environment, the Romanian contribution to the musical patrimony of this genre, both through a concert and also through conferences and master classes.

The Ensemble Flauto Dolce will participate at the following concerts:- Thursday, October 9, at 21.00 – Opening concert of the International Seminar, together with other participants at the event. The musical program will include European works from the 14th to the 18th century.- Sunday, October 12, at 20.45 – Concert for recorder ensembles „The Recorder in the Center”, with contemporary and baroque music performed by: Kees Boeke (The Netherlands), Zoltan Majo (Romania), Tamar Lalo (Spain), Owlos Recorder Quartet (Israel) - Monday, October 13, at 20.45 – Ensemble Flauto Dolce Concert, the musical program being comprised of Romanian music from the 17th and 18th century.
The International Seminar will host artists from: Romania (Ensemble Flauto Dolce: prof. Zoltan Majo – artistic director, Maria Szabo, Erich Türk and Mihaela Maxim), Italy (Antonella Glanese, Paolo Grazzi, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Enrico Gatti), France (Jill Feldman), Sweden (Tilman Skowronek), The Netherlands (Kees Boeke), Spain (Tamar Lalo) and Israel (Ayala Sicron, Alon Harari, Drora Bruck, Genevieve Blanchard, Idit Shemer, Claudia Gluchshankof, David Shemer, Aviad Stier, Marina Mirkin, Netta Ladar, Orit Messer Jacobi, Noam Schuss).
Established in Cluj in 2000, under the auspices of the “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy, Ensemble Flauto Dolce is comprised of professional musicians who specialize in European Early Music. For their Israeli tour, the ensemble will consist of: Zoltan Majo (artistic director, recorder), Maria Szabo (recorder), Erich Türk (harpsichord), Mihaela Maxim (soprano). The repertoire of the Ensemble Flauto Dolce includes early, traditional music from Central and Western Europe, as well as contemporary compositions.
