The event is organized by EUNIC - Stockholm and implemented this year for the sixth consecutive year. The films selected have been shown around the world at international film festivals and several have received awards. Some of the films make use of experimental techniques, while others want to challenge the medium of film on other levels.
In 2014 REX presents the experimental short films from Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. The curator of the program is Niclas Gillberg is Festival Director at the Uppsala International Short Film Festival.
