The third season of our series The History of Romania in One Object runs in partnership with The National Museum of Banat in Timișoara and the Timiș County Counciland features artifacts, objects and vestiges from Romania’s most diverse region, the Banat. The first episode presents the unique Neolithic Sanctuary of Parța, a fascinating and revealing archaeological site situated by the River Timiș.

Dan Ciubotaru is an archaeologist and curator at the National Museum of Banat in Timișoara. He is specialized in the research of prehistoric archaeology and graduated from the West University of Timișoara, the Faculty of History and English language and literature, in 1996. He immediately started working at the National Museum of Banat in the field of protection of archaeological heritage and preventive archaeology. He took part in the research of numerous prehistoric archaeological projects such as Parța tell I and II, Foeni, Sânandrei Ocsaplatz, Dudeștii Vechi-Movila lui Deciov or Sânicolau Mare-Pusta Bucova IV. Between 2002-2006 he was senior advisor for the protection of the archaeological heritage at the Directorate for Culture and National Cultural Heritage of Timiș County. Between 2006-2014 he was the manager of the National Museum of Banat. Throughout his career, he coordinated numerous national and international projects and exhibitions, and wrote extensively on topics of archaeology and the architectural and historical heritage of Timișoara.
