Producer Irina Malcea at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival

The 19th edition of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival takes place between October 27 and November 1, 2015. It is the largest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. It places the documentary on a pedestal similarly to an artefact that inspires the audience’s reflection on the world from various perspectives using the concepts and cinematographical value of the films. The emphasis is given to innovation and the experimental type of the films whose modifiable nature allows for their fusion with other genres such as fiction, animation or different types of TV format.

During the 6 days of festival, the visitors will be able to see over 250 films (including 58 world, 9 international and 11 European premieres). The film programme will be accompanied by Q&As with the filmmakers, directors’ masterclasses and open discussions.

Romanian Cultural Institute supports the presence of producer Irina Malcea in the Emerging Producers program of the festival, which is a platform of creative dialogue and professional networking that ensures the participants guidance and information optimization on the film market. This year’s edition  places in the spotlight the selected producers viewed both as professionals and unique human beings. The catalogue dedicated to the 2015 edition of festival presents their work, sources of inspiration, favourite books, as well as their life mottos. Another Romanian guest at the festival is Ms. Csilla Kato, Programme Director of the Astra Film Festivalul Sibiu, within the section Festival Identity – Festival Hub 2015 – Film Industry program.
