Romanian Cultural Institute is offering the Main Award at the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival BIEFF 2014

The fifth edition of the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival BIEFF will take place between the 10th and 14th of December 2014, at CinemaPRO and Elvira Popescu Cinema. 76 films from 28 countries will be screened, most of them as national premieres. The Romanian Cultural Institute is again a partner of the event and is offering the Grand Prize of 3000 EUR.

BIEFF is the first showcase of avant-garde cinema and visual art in Romania, a non-commercial event with educational purpose, aimed at bringing in front of the audience highly innovative films and filmmakers with strong personal views on contemporary reality, which also daringly explore the boundaries of cinematic language.

The winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, Roy Andersson’s most recent film, will open this year’s edition on Wednesday, December 10th, from 7pm, at CinemaPRO. The festival will close with a very provocative event – the Romanian premiere of Ulrich Seidl’s most recent adventure with the hybrid documentary genre – In the Basement, screened on Sunday, December 14th 2014, at 7.00, also at CinemaPRO.
