The Enescu Society launches its first-ever annual concert season at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London with a special performance by cellist Adrian Brendel and pianist Nicola Eimer. The programme includes Bach's Sonata in D major, BWV 1028, Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata in A minor, D.821, Schumann's Adagio and Allegro, opus 70, and Enescu's Sonata no. 2 for cello and piano.
Adrian Brendel has quickly established himself as one of the leading cellists of his generation, performing extensively as a soloist and in chamber music throughout Europe, the US, and Japan. Recent concert highlights include recitals in Amsterdam, Lucerne, Florence, Frankfurt, Graz, Vienna, London, Paris, Madrid and Valencia, and concerto appearances with the Sinfonia Varsovia, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has also recorded for radio companies across the world.
Nicola Eimer has enjoyed a highly successful career as a soloist and chamber musician. Winner of the 2005 Royal Overseas League Piano Competition, she has given solo recitals and concerto performances at many of the major London halls, including the Barbican and Wigmore Hall. She was a major prize-winner at the 2003 Dudley International Piano Competition and the John Lill Piano Competition, finalist at the 2003 YCAT auditions, and winner of the Tillett Trust Award. She was recently nominated Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, where she currently teaches piano and chamber music.
The Enescu Society Concert Season runs from October to June, on the first Thursday of each month. The concert stage of the Institute will host outstanding musicians performing George Enescu's music alongside an international repertoire.
The Enescu Society is a project of the Romanian Cultural Institute under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Margarita of Romania.
