Institutul Cultural Roman din Londra va continua seria de concerte Tineri muzicieni romani la Londra, organizata in anii precedenti la biserica St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Acest program promoveaza abilitatile muzicale extraordinare ale tinerilor artisti romani (studenti si absolventi ai Academiei Regale de Muzica, Colegiul Regal de Muzica, Scoala de Muzica si Teatru Guildhall etc).
Concertul de violoncel si pian este oferit de violoncelistul roman Andrei Simion si pianista britanica Rosie Richardson, care vor interpreta lucrari de Mendelssohn, Beethoven si Chopin.
Andrei Mihai Simion was born on 18 August 1984 in Bucharest, Romania. He started studying the cello in Bucharest at the age of ten with Anie-Marie Paladi, and in 1999 he became a student at the "Dinu Lipatti" High School. In 2000 he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School where he studied with Leonid Gorokhov and Louise Hopkins until 2004. At present he studies under Prof. Louise Hopkins at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has won various competitions such as the National Contest of Vocal-Instrumental Interpretation held in Târgu-Jiu, Romania, International Contest of Instrumental Interpretation "George Georgescu", Tulcea, Romania, the National Olympiad (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000). He has taken part in several live radio broadcasts for the national music channel. Andrei took part in masterclasses given by Louise Hopkins, Moray Welsh, Gary Hoffman, Colin Carr, Johannes Goritzki, Cristoph Richter, Marin Cazacu, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Jeremy Menuhin and Marcel Baudet. He has played at venues such as the Purcell Room, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. John's Smith Square, Fairfield Halls, St. Martin in the Fields, St. James Palace, St. Luke's Church. Andrei is kindly supported by the Ratiu Family Foundation.
Rosie Richardson studied with Senior Professor Joan Havill and graduated with a Masters Degree in solo performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2005. During this time, she wom the school's Romantic Piano Prize and performed in master classes with Claude Frank, Noriko Ogawa and Bryce Morrison. She was invited to give a televised recital as part of the North Cyprus International Music Festival in 2004. Since then, Rosie has been a Philip and Dorothy Green artist for the Making Music Award. She has given recitals at music societies around UK and recently performanced Schumann Piano Concerto with Hounslow Symphony Orchestra and the Grieg Concerto with Lichfield Sinfonia. Rosie is in demand as a duo recitalist and has upcoming performances in London, Amsterdam and Cambridge. She also works alongside violinist Benjamin Wragg with whom she is being promoted by North West Classical Music Tours for the 2007 season.
