Benjamin Fundoianu (Fondane)

Real name: Benjamin WexlerBorn in Iasi, 1898. Boarding school in Iasi. Debut at 16 in O. Densusianu's The New Life magazine (1914). He reads some of his poems to Ion Minulescu during the refuge (Iasi). He establishes the Island avant-garde theatre (with Armand Pascal). He goes to Paris in 1923, where he sends his writings to the avant-garde revues. He works as a clerk at a cinematographic society in Paris. He travels to South America (1923). He returns to poetry. Philosophical essays. In France he is known as Benjamin Fondane.
