Bega Blues Band @ ICR London

We warmly invite you to the concluding event of the ICR 2010 programme - an original jazzy celebration with Bega Blues Band: Maria Chioran, vocal; Johnny Bota, bass; Vasile Dolga, drums; Lucian Nagy, saxes; Alex Man, guitar.

Bega Blues Band, the oldest Romanian group of its genre, was born in 1983 after a legendary meeting between the late Bela Kamocsa - the founder and the guitarist of the renowned rock group Phoenix and the bass player Johnny Bota. The band, based in Timisoara, has had an impressive career, being awarded The Popularity Prize, Privas Festival, France (1992); The Best Blues Band, given by the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania and The Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company (2004). After the death of Bela Kamocsa, earlier this year, Johnny Bota, the founder of the first Jazz Faculty in Timisoara, became the band's frontman.

At present, Bega Blues Band has redefined itself and has grown in number, counting, besides Johnny Bota and Vasile Dolga, members of the initial formula, the young and promising Maria Chioran, Lucian Nagy and Alex Man.

The concert will be followed by a vin d'honeur.
