Romanian artists & architects come to London to develop a creative project for the London Festival of Architecture 2008.
The London Festival of Architecture 2008 is a celebration of London's architecture which will span a whole month between 20 June and 20 July across five major Hubs of activity. Each Hub will see major public events, exhibitions, talks, installations, tours, walks and cycle rides.
Over twenty foreign cultural institutes and embassies will bring exhibitions from around the world to form part of the Festival in association with The British Council.
The Romanian Cultural Institute has invited curator Mihnea Mircan and TUB (Transcentral Urban Bucharest) architects to work on a joint project for the Festival. The project will explore practices of social and urban renewal in Bucharest as well as critical positions on what might constitute a new monumentality in the post-ideological world.
Curator Mihnea Mircan, architects Teodor Frolu and Bruno Andresoiu, artists Alexandra Croitoru, Ciprian Muresan, Vlad Nanca, Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor, and cultural promoter Doru Mitrana come to London to introduce their urban & arts project. The programme includes meetings with LFA 2008 team and local practitioners in architecture & visual arts.
