The Romanian Cultural Institute is launching a call for applications to offer five scholarships for Professional Translators in 2024. Interested translators are invited to send their application files by 19.03.2024, 16:00, Romanian time, to the e-mail address: burse@icr.ro.
The program aims to collaborate as closely as possible with professional translators, specialized in translating Romanian authors* into foreign languages. Selected candidates are offered the opportunity to translate in Romanian and interact directly with Romanian writers, editors and translators. The selection of files is made by an independent commission of specialists (university professors of foreign languages), based on the received application files.
*authors who are Romanian citizens or originally from Romania or authors whose native language is Romanian.
Number of scholarships awarded annually: 5 (five);
Duration of scolarships: one or two months, depending on the period requested by the scholarship holder;
Areas for which evaluation and selection are organized: translations;
Deadline for submitting files: 19.03.2024, 16.00 h, Romanian time.
Granted amounts: 1,500 euros/1 month or 3,000 euros/2 months, depending on the period requested by the scholarship holder;
Documents required for enrollment (the scholarship application file):
a. the registration form;
b. CV, containing, as the case may be: participation in colloquiums, seminars, conferences, congresses, communications; published works, completed or ongoing projects; other data considered useful by the applicant;
c. copy of the identity document/passport;
d. copies of diplomas;
e. letter of intent/work project;
f. copy of a contract valid at the time of submission of the application file, concluded with a foreign publishing house for the publication of the translated work (application project) from Romanian literature;
g. self-responsible declaration that all the documents sent are in accordance with the original.

Display of final results – 09 May 2024;
Signing of contracts: May 10 – October 14, 2024.
