Romanian Triptych: A celebration of Christmas with Romanian traditional ballads, Byzantine carols and archaic ethnic costumes. Director Ilinca Gheorghiu and an ensemble of outstanding young artists will present a performance of ancient Romanian folklore pieces: Miorita, Master Manole and a series of traditional hymns.
Ruxandra Ibric (soprano) is a scholar of the Centre of Baroque Music in Versailles. She won the prestigious award Nadia et Lili Boulanger for 2007-2008. Her international schedule includes recitals conducted by Ton Koopman at Radio France International and performs in Italy in the Decebalo opera conducted by Leonardo Leo. She has also toured in Romania, France, Croatia and Hungary.
Sorin Dumitrascu (bass, baritone) is a scholar of the National Superior Conservatory of Paris. He participated at many national and international music contests and won a scholarship at the Salzburg Academy in August 2007.
Eduard Sabo (flute and pipes) is studying at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris. He currently takes part in productions of the Opéra Nationale de Paris as well as in concerts of Orchestre de Paris. In 2005 he founded the Initium Ensemble.
Norwegian ethnographer and musician, Kyrre Slind (cobs) is passionate about traditional folk music from different parts of the world such as Scandinavia, Romania, India, France. He has toured all over Europe with his band Trio Jormundgand.
Ilinca Gheorghiu directed over 30 performances combining music, theatre, dance, visual arts and architecture in places like the Louvre Museum (Il Libro del Cortegiano), the Paris Observatory (La Méridienne) or Bibliotheca Wittockiana in Brussels (Les Livres du Silence). Together with the baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants, she directed D'Amore e di Guerra presented by the Arte Channel.
