The fall season of our online series "The History of Romania in One Object", created in partnership with the Museum of National History and Archaeology in Constanța, focuses on artifacts and objects found in the culturally diverse province of Dobrogea (Dobruja), a Southeastern region of Romania bordering the Black Sea, whose rich historical texture was woven by Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman influences.
The second of the six objects in focus is the spectacular shrine with a double representation of goddess Nemesis created sometime during the Severan dynasty. This spectacular piece is one of the 24 artifacts of an ancient sculptural treasure discovered by chance during some infrastructure works on April 1, 1962.
Video presentation and text by historian Irina Sodoleanu. Film concept by Cristian Cealera and Constantin Țițineanu.
