Following their succesfull performance in Manchester this year, we are happy to support the band's return to the UK. The concert is part of a Romanian film + music act in Brighton on 23, 24 and 25 November.
Shaped in the Gypsy ghettos (Mahala) around Bucharest, Romania, Mahala Rai Banda (which translates as "The Noble Band from the Ghetto") has enjoyed tremendous succes worldwide and displays a surprising array of trends and styles. Combining Romanian violin, accordion and clarinet with driving Turkish percussion and Eastern European military brass, they are as at home playing on the Borat soundtrack, stirring up a frenzy at Glastonbury Festival, or playing for 3 days solid at a wedding. More details about the band.
The concert is organised by Komedia in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute and Balkan Beats.
When: Sunday 25 November, 8.30 pm
Where: Komedia, 44 Gardner Street, Brighton, BN1 1UN
Tickets: £10 / £8 conc. Standing.
