The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv has the pleasure to invite you, between August 5th to 17th 2013, to the 38th edition of the international Jerusalem Arts and Crafts Festival.
For the 2013 edition of the fair, Romania has prepared for the visitors a stand with handmade objects from the Prahova Valley. The Romanian craftspeople present at the stand will offer ad-hoc workshops and detailed explanations about the crafts, traditions and rural tourism in this area. The three members of the group: Anca-Mihaela Vitaliş, Alina-Andreea Moraru, Georgiana Cristina Bălăşescu, are specialized in the manufacturing of traditional garments. The visitors will have the opportunity to admire and buy handmade products such as traditional shirts „ii”, hand woven table mats and towels, as well as other traditional handmade objects.
The International Jerusalem Arts and Crafts Festival is the largest and most important event of this kind organized in Israel, each edition bringing together more than 150 Israeli artists and 30-40 international stalls, that display handicraft objects made by using the most diverse techniques, from the traditional ones up to the modern manufacturing technologies, limited series or one-of-a-kind products. Also, during the fair there are organized workshops, live demonstrations as well as music, dance and unconventional theatre performances, together with an international culinary festival. The event is very appreciated by the Israeli public, the approximate number of visitors for each edition being 100.000.
In the last edition, the Romanian participation was very successful, presenting traditional art objects from Bucovina and a show of the group “Dorna Dorului”, young folklore dance and music performers. The Romanian stand was visited by the Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Nir Barkat, who was very interested in the Romanian folklore and traditions. Following his invitation, “Dorna Dorului” offered a short performance at the Jerusalem City Hall.
