“Dad Is Not My Friend” Premiers al The Cockpit Theatre - How much past do you take with You?

We are proud to support The Cockpit Theatre run of "Dad Is Not My Friend", produced and presented by Kinth Square Theatre Company, run by Romanian–Moldovan artists Inna and Sava Cebotari. The play explores the relationship between three young people and their migrant parents. Torn between tradition and the need to fit into the country they were born in, they discover a very powerful AI that can change their lives forever. The potential for surveillance and control provided by the AI mimics the control of their families, driven by fear and the desire to create new beginnings.

The show was funded with support from Arts Council England. Although the script was written after interviewing first, second and third-generation migrants, the play is entirely fictional. Directed by Sava Cebotari, and written by Grace Spencer, the show is their first production in the UK, following several award-winning productions in Moldova, Romania, Russia, Germany and Ukraine.
