Undergraduate and graduate students from BLCU and BFSU, as well as Romanian students in China, attended the conference. Additionally, we had the distinguished honor of hosting Mr. Claudiu Mihail Florian, the cultural attaché of the Romanian Embassy in Beijing, and Ms. Jana Qian, a renowned Romanianologist and eminent journalist, who has translated numerous volumes from Romanian to Chinese.
During the lecture, Associate Professor Dr. Cristina Ungureanu highlighted the royal brilliance of Queen Marie and the inestimable value of her work for the Romanian people and world literature. The queen's charisma and her approach to universal themes such as faith, love, nature, courage, art, and beauty were emphasized throughout the presentation.
Dr. Ungureanu's detailed analysis brought to the forefront the narrative techniques used by Queen Marie in her autobiography, including discursive-narrative approach, construction of events and experiences, internal focus, and character portraits. The relationship between space and time in her work, as well as the importance of faith in the queen's life and writings, were also discussed.
In conclusion, Associate Professor Dr. Cristina Ungureanu underscored that the memory and legacy of Queen Marie continue to inspire and influence, portraying her as a model to follow in the realm of values through her love, respect, and faith.
The lecture attracted a diverse audience, consisting of Chinese and Romanian students, professors, and cultural personalities. The event was a real success, garnering appreciation and interest from the Chinese public towards the emblematic figure of Queen Marie. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for promoting Romanian culture abroad and encouraged the exchange of ideas and collaboration between Romanian and Chinese cultures.
Associate Professor Dr. Cristina Ungureanu, from the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, University Center of Pitești, Faculty of Theology, Letters, History, and Arts, is the author of two books of analysis and introspection: "Mystery and Meaning in The Story of My Life, the masterpiece of Queen Marie" (Bucharest, Curtea Veche Publishing House, 2021) and "Romania through Queen Marie’s Eyes. Identity and Self Identification" (Cluj-Napoca, Casa Cărții de Știință Publishing House, 2022).
