This year's first concert in the Enescu Concert Series offers an exceptional encounter with two brilliant pianists, RomanianMihai Ritivoiu and Bulgarian Evgeny Genchev, reunited under the aegis of the composers who have authored some of the most fascinating, memorable piano pieces ever scored. The event is organised in partnership with Keyboard Charitable Trust.

Mihai Ritivoiu was born in Bucharest and began piano lessons at the age of 6. In 2012 he graduated with the highest honours from the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he was trained by Professor Viniciu Moroianu, and is currently studying with Professor Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Mihai has also participated in masterclasses with Dimitri Bashkirov, Dominique Merlet, Richard Goode and Emmanuel Ax, and has benefited from the advice and guidance of Romanian pianist Valentin Gheorghiu.
Young Bulgarian pianist Evgeny Genchev has been steadily gaining wider recognition and critical acclaim. He started playing piano at an age of eight and began his formal training at the Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance in his hometown, Plovdiv. In 2005 he joined the Young Talents class of Prof. Tamara Poddubnaya at Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, the Netherlands. He has given numerous recitals and concerts across Europe, the United States, China and Australia, and has won prizes at more than fifteen national and international piano competitions.
The concert opens RCI London's eighth year of uninterrupted recitals named after the towering figure of the Romanian musical tradition, which are presented, almost year-round, in association with The Enescu Society of London.
